I'm in pain. Pain, pain, pain... I don't think I'm cut out for heroism. Lindi gave us another task, to 'deal with' some gnomes in the cellar. So of course, down we went, with no information. And of course, the first thing that happened was everyone went a different direction. Except Lily (who had finally woken up, after sleeping through most of the evening) and Stein, who walked together. I decided I should stick with them. We came across a couple of small people, who I assumed to be gnomes, and I went to speak to them, to assess the issue. Until Shiori came to join us, made a fine mess of it, and cut the bridge they were trying to chase him over, dropping them into an abyss. I dove in after them, to try to rescue them. I hadn't got anything useful from them yet. It... Didn't work. I only saved one, the other slipped from my grasp. And it hurt. A lot. At some point Lily came to help, though she didn't really do much except make me feel a little better. I'd yet to even fully catch my breath before another of his kind came sprinting around from the other side, bound directly for where the bridge had been. I managed to jump at him before he fell in, making the landing much easier, and then carefully carried him across to have us all in one place. Then... I heard a huge cracking, from just across the bridge. Shiori had dug out a wall to somewhere else. I wasn't even going to try carrying him, given my already aching body, so I ignored it and went back to speaking with the 'gnomes'. They seemed to be very simple; they used very simple words and concepts, and didn't seem to have much concern for the one lost to the abyss. Maybe that's common for them. They explained that they brew. I'm not sure what they mean, beyond that. But Lily convinced them to lead us to their brewing station, which seemed promising... Until we came across Albrct, hastily leaving with some pig carcasses and a troll. They parted ways, though, each taking one pig, and as Albrct passed me, I asked what was going on. He just passed me a bucket full of his usual drink, and kept running. If he's willing to part ways with his bucket, it must be serious, so Lily and I took the hint to stay on his tail, and we managed to get out as the cave sounded like it was collapsing around us. I'm shivering now, writing this, thinking how I might have just narrowly avoided being stuck down there, away from the sky. I spoke to Lindi, she confirmed that they're not actually a problem - it seems by 'deal with' she meant 'work with'. Well... I'm glad I didn't attack them, at least, unlike some of my party members.
